two experimental pieces

Two little practice pieces.

These are made from the cut off hems of prom and bridesmaid dresses, brought to me by their owners for hem adjustments.  In the past I've thrown out these scraps.
The problem with putting them in these configurations is: they are not on straight grain, which makes piecing a bear, and they're lightweight satiny lining fabrics, which makes them a bear again. What to do?  I used a foundation piece of firm muslim and secured the small pieces to square cuts, then worked with them.
